Hiroshima 18th January 2006

A panoramic view taken from the top of Futabayama Peace Pagoda

After visiting the tourist office to see what sights to take in, we settled for the Futabayama Pagoda.

From the station, we could see what looked to be the shrine dome of another temple high up on top of one of the hills, so set of trying to follow what the Japanese class as maps !

The photo below is one of the many Shrines that we passed on the way up.

Toshogu Shrine

After a very long walk, and for the first time since entering Japan we were actually hot we finally reached the top.

All we found was a dome, with no building below it.
It didn't help that half of it was actually covered in scaffolding and was in the process of being re-painted.

All we gained from the whole walk was the view overlooking the city and the loss of a couple of pounds ( Well needed ).

We took the easy route back, following the road ( The map didn't show this route )

One last photo before deciding to call it a day and heading back to the hotel to plan whets next.
