Hiroshima 17th January 2006

Another day and a another shrine.
The people on reception at our hotel keep laughing at us as we just keep asking for one more night.
We have now been here for 4 days already and we had only planned 2 !!

Today's little outing took us to Miyajima
This is meant to be one of the 3 most beautifal spots of Japan.

I am not convinced, but it was different in as much that we had to catch a boat to get there.

The wooden structure in the water was built some time in the sixth century, although I am sure that it must of come to fire at some stage as we haven't yet come accross one that hasn't !

This place is teaming with small dear that have come a bit too friendly through constant feeding.
There are even people selling food for them, which just make matters worse.

All you see are Japanese tourists running away from dear that are chansing their hands because they are still grasping a rice cake !



A statue guarding the entrance to the temple



I managed to grab a couple of shots of the insides of their temples.
From the outside they are quite bland wooden structure with the odd urn for jos sticks, but the insides are quite different with gold coloured statues etc.


































Some Japanese text writen on wooden strips.
Not sure what its saying, but it looked good.
The strips of wood are placed along the tops of the wall along the walkways between temple buildings


More lanterns !


As much as I tried, I couldn't get these guys to look into the camera.
They all managed to move in such a way that each shot blured or is it a poor carftsman that blames his tools !!
























After becoming a camera widow, Alison has finaly succumb to taking her own photos.
I like her style !!























Five storied Pagoda
